I just finished a beautiful, transformational week of yoga with Ilana on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. We stayed on the shores of an enormous caldera over 85,000 years old with five other volcanoes in view (and one of them still quietly active). In addition to daily yoga, we enjoyed stand-up paddle boarding at sunrise, many boat rides, hikes in nature reserves, an introduction to traditional weaving and cooking, and an amazing Mayan Fire Ceremony. All this in addition to meeting an amazing group of people!
I’m in the airport today for an unscheduled layover. It’s a long story, but I’ll leave you with this piece of advice: should you plan to travel with human cremains, carry a death certificate, and research the laws of the lands you are passing through. Also, consider going with the story that they are not ashes, but unprocessed sugar! I may have missed my flight, but thankfully I am not in jail (and I got more than three hours of intensive Spanish practice with six airport security personnel, five police officers, and a canine drug-detection dog). Much later than expected, I will meet up with my husband and niece in Costa Rica before heading home on Thursday. What an adventure!
If you are stuck in New England, winter can seem longer than the other seasons, but Everyday Wellbeing is here for you: Body, Mind, and Spirit! Yoga still happens everyday 8:00 - 900 AM at the Munson Library. If we have a weather-related cancellation — which is very rare — we’ll post it on the calendar and on our old Facebook page by 7 AM.
A silent period of Meditation Practice also happens every day 9:10-9:30 AM right after yoga. Come enjoy 20 minutes of sitting-in-(relative)-silence in good company. No experience necessary. All you need is a desire to notice the mind at work and give it an opportunity to rest a bit.
Qigong happens every Saturday 9:15-10:00 AM. Here again, no experience is necessary. Those new to Qigong are always welcome to learn a gentle, standing, meditative practice to balance and cultivate life force energy. This all important measure of vitality is called prana in yogic practices and Qi in Chinese disciplines. No matter what we call it, you’ll notice a difference all day long!
There are two more weeks of Restorative Yoga with Diana and Liz’s Tibetan Bowls. Join them Tuesday evenings, February 4th and 11th 6:00-7:00 PM. Mats, blocks, and straps are available, but participants may want to bring their own comfort items: blanket, beach towel, pillow, cushion, bolster will all provide additional support.
Find all of our offerings and see who is teaching by visiting our website at www.everydaywellbeing.org, Simply click an event in the calendar to read the details!
