Welcome Back!!!
“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
When I read these words it reminds me what a precious gift it is that we ‘get to’ practice Yoga Outside! What a wonderful return to the pond behind Andrew’s Greenhouse this June has provided. With grateful hearts (thanks Jacqui & Andrew), we gather in this gorgeous open space everyday at 8 AM to share the practices of Yoga and connection. Spread the word — all are welcome to join for our all levels, donation-based classes.
Read on for logistical reminders about parking and weather, updates from Linda C in Wyoming, and upcoming events from some of our YO teachers and subs.
Never miss an update!
Logistics for classes:
Parking - Please park in the main parking lot that faces the field and pond — not in the areas near the solar panel, barns, or road those areas are strictly for Andrew’s Greenhouse employees. Thanks!
Weather - Here at Yoga Outside we practice rain or shine! Yep - that means we only cancel classes for severe weather such as lightning or high-winds. If we need to cancel a class in advance, it will get posted on the Yoga Outside Facebook page by 7 AM that morning. Please dress for the weather and bring any special props you may wish to use to support your practice.

Linda C in Wyoming!
We are thankful to hear our co-fonder and fearless leader, Linda C., has arrived and settled into Wyoming. Read on for an excerpt from her latest adventures…
…We are surrounded by wildlife here in a wide-open mountain top valley (at 9000 feet above sea level) with many resident beavers in an extensive willow swamp. We saw two babies taking what must have been their inaugural swim yesterday afternoon. We've also seen coyote, moose, elk, deer, pronghorn antelope, sandhill cranes, and many herons. We bring our binoculars everywhere and are rarely disappointed. We haven't seen any bear yet, but were told to carry bear spray when we hike. (Frankly, I think they are more afraid of us than we are of them.) A pair of western bluebirds built a nest in the eave of the tack shed and four babies have hatched. The parents are busy all day feeding them and guarding them from a ferret who lives under the shed. The blue of the male's back is an almost unreal color; it is so iridescent and brilliant in the sun.
I trust that all is going well in Western Massachusetts. I get to teach yoga to our guests every afternoon after we ride. It’s a very different practice than in the early morning, but everyone seems to appreciate moving their bodies in different ways after sitting on a horse all day.
I miss you all and our wonderful yoga community, but I LOVE Wyoming!
I’ll send another update later in the season.
~Linda
Community Events with YO Teachers & Subs:
South Amherst Common/Munson Hall Yoga with Amy Sundari Finlay
1046 S. East St., Amherst, MA Saturdays 10:00 - 11:15 AM Suggested donation $10-$20
Just down the street from Andrews (and a couple of hours later), we practice in the shade of the large trees on the common, or use an available space inside Munson during inclement weather. Cues are given for a range of difficulty and ability, and include low-back friendly options on all poses (great for those whose low back discomfort surfaces hours after typical yoga asana practice).
Please bring: a yoga mat, something to raise your hips 3”+ above your knees when seated (ie. a folded blanket, 2 large folded towels, or a chair), a foam roller if you have one, and any other props you’d like to use.
Amy Sundari Finlay is a lifelong yogi (Satchidananda/Integral & Jois/Ashtanga lineages) with 200 hr. certification through Kripalu. Her classes prioritize strength and stability, introspective elements of flow, and deeply nourishing pranayama.
